Illinois Biometric Class Action
A well-known privacy plaintiff's firm has filed at least three class action lawsuits against Illinois employers alleging violations of an Illinois state biometrics action.
The claims allege violations of the Illinois Biometric Privacy Act, which requires employers to provide notice to employees when collecting biometric information. The complaints allege that putative employee-class members were required to use their fingerprints to clock in and out of work.
According to the plaintiffs, the law allows $1000 per violation, plus attorney fees to a prevailing plaintiff.
